SUMMARY:Healthy Schools Summer Academy 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) Healthy Schools Summer Academy (Academy) will be held June 4-5\, 2024\, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland\, Florida. The 13th annual Healthy Schools Summer Academy will focus on integrated standards-based health education\, physical education\, civic and character education and life skills education for the development of healthy\, confident\, and resilient learners. \nDistrict administrators\, mental health coordinators\, school nurses\, curriculum specialists\, school counselors and all subject-area teachers\, especially health education and physical education teachers\, are encouraged to attend. This interactive professional learning opportunity will provide information and resources on topics including\, but not limited to\, Florida’s state academic standards\, Required Instruction Planning and Reporting rule\, resiliency education\, nutrition\, physical activity\, safe and supportive environments\, substance use and abuse prevention\, and school connectiveness to ensure the health and wellbeing of students. \nThe theme for the 2024 Academy will be Maximizing Health and Physical Education for Resilient Learners. \nThe Academy will accommodate up to 200 participants on a first-come\, first-serve basis. The registration cost of the academy is $90 per attendee. \n\nAttendee check in will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday\, June 4\, 2024.\nThe Academy will occur from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday\, June 4 until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday\, June 5\, 2024.\n\nFor questions about the program\, please email Meghan Spencer at FDOE. For information about registration and payments\, please contact the HSSA registrar. \nIf you need to cancel your registration\, please contact the HSSA registrar. If you have dietary restrictions\, food allergies or other concerns\, please indicate so on your registration form. \nHousing Scholarship\nThe Academy will cover up to two nights at the Springhill Suites which is adjacent to the RP Funding Center for up to 50 participants.
